Lincoln Defeats Danville In OT

The 14th ranked Danville Area Community College Men's Basketball team fell to 7-5 after dropping their MWAC conference opener at Lincoln College (11-5) 92-86 in Overtime.

DACC found themselves down 20-6 to start the game, but fought their way back to get within 4 points in the first half.  Danville trailed at the half 45-36.

The second half started much the same as the first half as Lincoln went on a 12-0 run.  Danville trailed by 21 points at one point.  However, the Jaguars' defense stepped up in the final 10 minutes.  DACC tied the game at 79-79, on a layup from freshman point guard Billy Hayes with less than 5 seconds remaining.  The Jaguars then forced a turnover and
missed a shot at the buzzer to win the game. In overtime DACC was outscored 13-7.

Danville was led by pre-season All-American Marcus Thomas who had 27 points.  Anthony Lee Ingram had 11 points and 14 rebounds, while Sergey Struck added 18 points and 11 rebounds.

DACC was without starting point guard Antwone Rogers who was home in Indianapolis mourning the death of his 12 year old cousin.

Next up for the Jaguars is a 5 game home stand.  They will face Lincoln Land at HOME on Wednesday, January 9th at 7:30 p.m.

QUOTES from Danville Head Coach Mike Carpenter:
"I'm proud of the way we battled back today.  We had a chance to win the game at the end, but missed the shot."
"We were without a couple of key players today, but our reserves stepped up and gave us key contributions down the stretch."
