Union*s Neaville
Named TranSouth Player of the Week
JACKSON, Tenn. - November 19, 2007 - Matt Neaville
of Union University has been selected as the TranSouth
Athletic Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week ending
November 18, 2007.
Neaville currently ranks No. 1 in the NAIA with
30.5 points and 6.0 three pointers per game. He has posted over 30 points in
three of Union*s four games this year, with three of the four opponents for Union being ranked in the NAIA Top 25.
Neaville, a 6-foot-0 junior guard from Urbana, Ill.,
helped lead the No. 19 Bulldogs to a pair of wins with consecutive 30-point
games. In Union*s 111-90 win over Missouri Baptist he produced 31 points,
five rebounds, seven assists, and two steals while hitting 10-of-16 from the field,
5-of-10 from three-point range, and all six free throws. In the Bulldogs
92-85 win at NAIA No. 23 McKendree University he
delivered a season-high 36 points, three rebounds, six assists, and had a
steal
while hitting 14-of-27 from the field and 8-of-19 from three-point range. His
eight made threes was just two shy of the Union record for made three
pointers in a game.
For the week, Neaville was also named the MVP of
the McKendree Classic, where he averaged 33.5
points, four rebounds, 6.5 assists while hitting 24-of-43 (56%) from the
field, 13-of-29 (45%) from three-point range, and all six three throws. Union is 3-1 on the season and is ranked No. 19 in the
NAIA.
