Southeastern Illinois Too Much For Shawnee

Shawnee traveled to Harrisburg, IL to face Division I foe Southeastern Illinois who entered the contest with a record of 8-1.  Southeastern came out and took control of the game early with strong inside play and sharp shooting from their guards and won 105-79. “We turned the ball over early, missed shots, & don’t get stops defensively.  That’s a recipe for disaster when you play SIC,”  Shawnee Head Coach John Sparks commented.

At the half Shawnee trailed 21 – 42.  Shawnee came out the second half and attempted to claw their way back into the game, but they only closed within fifteen points.  The Saints scored 58 points in the second half, but that wasn’t enough after spotting Southeastern a 21 point half time lead.  Shawnee shot 75% from the F.T. line, 33% on 3pt. FG, 48% on 2pt. FG, with 24 turnovers to 11 assist, , and 5 players fouled out.

The Saints were led by Johnny Williams who scored 14 of his 23 points in the second half.  Brandon Anderson also dropped in 18 points. The Saints record drops to 6-4 and they will now prepare to play Meramec @ the Rawlings Shootout in St. Louis, MO.
